Analyze the Tabs of Your Email Marketing HubSpot

Your email marketing campaign may be working great. You’ve been testing different campaigns and learning from past mistakes. Now it’s time to take stock of your overall performance and see how you’re doing relative to expectations. One place to look is your email’s subject line. If you want to write a compelling subject line for your next email campaign, here are a few tips.

Craft a Memorable Subject Line

Subject lines that stand out above the rest are memorable. To craft a memorable subject line, begin with a powerful opening. Just enough to grab their attention but not so much that it feels like a pitch. For example, “Top 5 Places to Visit in 2021” is a great subject line for a travel-related email because it’s compelling and includes the important information that the recipient wants. It makes the subject line easy to remember and it drives clicks.

Craft the subject line in a way that feels natural and not forced. After you’ve got their attention with a strong opening, you can craft a longer, more detailed subject line that will keep them interested. Craft it in a way that makes sense for your business and unique to your brand. You want to make the recipient feel like they’ve discovered something valuable and unique about your brand. Sometimes the details in a subject line aren’t as important as the fact that the subject line is compelling and memorable. Once you’ve got them hooked, you can develop a longer, more in-depth content piece to support your marketing message. If you want to stand out above the competition, you need to deliver something special and valuable that will make your audience remember you and come back for more.

Focus On User Experience

Your goal is to make the user experience as positive as possible. To do this, you need to consider a number of factors. One important aspect is the appearance of your email itself. When users receive emails from brands they trust, they tend to trust the brand as well. One way to make your email stand out is with a vibrant, colorful layout. In addition to using a variety of colors, you can bring personality to your email by using images of people, places or things relevant to your business. If you run a bakery, for example, you might want to use a picture of a freshly baked cake to inspire potential customers to purchase your product.

You can also make your email more personal by using a variety of fonts, headers and footers, and even graphics to spice things up. You want to put yourself in the shoes of your intended audience and think about what they want and need. Once you’ve got that, you can craft an email that will appeal to them.

Consider The Form Factor

When we think about email, we usually think about sending and receiving messages through a computer. As email marketing continues to evolve, though, new platforms emerge to support marketing through phones, tablets, and watches. When it comes to email marketing, variety is the key. Just because you can send an email doesn’t mean that all of your audience will receive it. Make sure that you’ve considered the form factor of your audience when planning out your next email campaign. If you’re not sure where they’re receiving their emails from, look it up. Then, consider what type of device they use to access your email.

Depending on the type of device your audience uses, the look and feel of your email may be very different. For instance, if they’re reading your email on a mobile device, you might want to consider making the text smaller so that it fits more comfortably on the screen. You can also use color wisely. If your audience has a better experience reading your email on a blue background rather than white, you might want to consider using that background instead. Keep in mind that not all devices support all types of email displays. If your email doesn’t look the same on every device, some users might even think that your email is broken. Having a simple check list of the devices your audience uses so that you can ensure that your email looks the same is a great way to avoid any confusion.

Avoid The Spam Filter

As we mentioned above, variety is key when it comes to email marketing. To bring more variety to your email, you might want to consider sending a digest version to a portion of your email list rather than the whole list. When you send a digest version, you’ll typically only send a short email that contains only the most important information. This way, you don’t overwhelm your readers with excessive text and you ensure that your message gets delivered.

If you’ve ever tried to send an email and received a message from a spam filter, then you know how frustrating it can be when you want to send a personal message to someone but it gets caught in the spam filter. To keep your personal emails separate from the spam, you could ask the person to unsubscribe from your email list or you could create a separate email list just for personal messages. Not every business model allows for mass email marketing, but if it does, you might want to consider creating a separate email list just for personal messages.

Anchor Your Text

One of the most important rules to follow when writing an email is to anchor your text. This simply means that you write your email in a way that makes it easy for the reader to understand and follow the instructions within the email. When writing a sales email, for example, you want to make sure that your reader doesn’t have to work at figuring out what you’re talking about. You might want to begin your email with a short overview of what the email is going to cover. Then, you can provide them with some helpful information or a call-to-action (CTA).

For instance, let’s say that you’re selling a product that cleanses their skin and you want to offer users a free sample of the product. Your email could look like this:

Hi {firstname} {lastname},

Thanks for signing up for our newsletter!

I wanted to give you some important information about our new product, {product name}. It’s a three-step process where you start with cleansing, then moisturizing, and finish with a soothing serum. Let’s take a look…

Here’s a longer description of what the product is and how it works:
