It’s quite common for email marketers to be attached to one or more mailing lists, especially when we’re still in the early days of Email marketing.
Sometimes, we really don’t know how or why we’re on these lists in the first place. It may even be a brand new email address we don’t know how to contact.
Whatever the reason, we often find ourselves on these lists, even if we’ve decided to opt out of receiving mail from certain companies.
So, how can we remove ourselves from these mailing lists? Is there a quick and simple way to do this?
The Quickest and Simplest Way to Opt Out of a Mailing List
If we’re completely honest, there’s no easy way to opt out of a mailing list.
The companies that send us these emails may very well have a record of our email address, and trying to remove ourselves from their mailing lists is quite a lengthy process.
But there are ways to make the process quicker and simpler.
Let’s have a quick look at how you can do this.
The Use of Strong Passwords
You may have heard of the practice of storing passwords in a “rainbow” format.
What this means is that we separate each letter of the alphabet from the rest, and add a bit of a color flair to make things easier to distinguish.
For example, let’s say I have a password of “qwerty1234”. This is essentially what I would do:
- Q: Blue
- W: White
- E: Red
- R: Orange
- T: Green
- Y: Yellow
- 2: Black
- 4: Gray
Now, if I wanted to log into my account, I would simply need to enter “qwerty1234” to confirm my identity.
Because of the way these passwords are structured, it’s extremely difficult for someone else to guess or calculate my password.
And that’s exactly what makes this process so much easier. Not to mention that if I ever do forget my password, I can simply re-enter it, and the system will tell me that my account is still active.
Create a New Password
Another way to make the process of logging into your account quicker and simpler is to create a new password.
When you create a new password, you will have the option to set it to be a “strong” password.
What this means is that the password will be made up of letters, numbers, and symbols, and will be at least 8 characters long.
For example, let’s say my original password was “qwerty1234”. If I decide that I want a stronger password, I can easily create one by clicking “change password” on the login page.
- Q: Blue
- W: White
- E: Red
- R: Orange
- T: Green
- Y: Yellow
- 2: Black
- 4: Gray
After creating a new password, I will be prompted to confirm it. If I enter the original password, the system will know that it’s the same person asking to log into the account.
Use a Different Email Address
If I want to make the process of logging into my account even quicker and simpler, I can simply create a new email address and send them a verification email.
When you create a new email address, you will have the option to make it “strong” or “regular”.
The short explanation for this is that if I use a strong email address, I won’t show up on any mailing lists for brand or marketing emails from companies that I’ve unsubscribed from.
Creating a new email address is quite easy. When you’re on the login page, simply click “create new account”, and you will be presented with an option to enter an email address, a password, and an optional name. There, now you can take advantage of the simplest and quickest way to opt out of a marketing email list.
When you use a strong email address, you don’t show up on brand or marketing emails from companies that you’ve unsubscribed from, so it doesn’t hurt to try.
And if I ever do forget my password, I can simply create a new one and set it to be a strong password.
