AWeber is one of the most popular email marketing platforms around. The software makes it easy for anyone to set up a landing page, blog, or social media account to collect email addresses. While the service does offer many features, one of its unique selling points is its streamlined interface. It’s easy to use and doesn’t require any previous marketing experience. However, as useful as AWeber is, it’s not always the most efficient tool for the job. One issue that users have complained about is that it’s difficult to delete a campaign once it’s been established. Sometimes it can be an unnecessary hassle to set up a new one when the original one is still active.
In this article, we’ll discuss how to delete a campaign in AWeber so you can set up a new one without any hassles.
How to Delete a Campaign in AWeber
Whether you’re a digital marketer, a salesperson, or a small business owner looking to grow your email list, AWeber is a perfect tool for the job. The software is lightweight and easy to use, and it has a clean and elegant interface. Plus, you can use its free trial to try it out for yourself before committing.
You can start by going to your Account Settings in the app. From there, you can select the Security tab and scroll down to the Encryption section. Here, you’ll find a drop-down menu with three options:
- AWeber recommends using encryption. This option ensures that no one but you can read your messages. While some might find this level of security uncomfortable, it’s essential for keeping your email confidential. Without encryption, even your closest friends and family could read your correspondence.
- I prefer to use a public key. This option allows anyone to read your messages, but it also makes it easy for people to contact you directly. If you use this method, AWeber will generate a public key and share it with you. You’ll then need to add this key to your website, social media accounts, and email lists.
- I want to use a personal key for my account. With this option, only you will be able to read your messages. AWeber will not share your private key with anyone, so you can keep your correspondence as secure as possible.
Once you’ve made your selection, click on the blue Save button at the bottom of the page.
You’ll then be presented with a warning that read as follows:
Your encryption setting has been updated. You can now delete all the campaigns you’ve previously created in AWeber. To continue, click on the Delete button next to the name of the campaign you want to delete.
The button will turn blue once you confirm your decision. Now, when you go to create a new campaign, this prompt will no longer appear because you prevented AWeber from saving the information in the first place. You can now begin creating your new campaign with all the details you want.
Why You Shouldn’t Keep Undeleted Campaigns
If you’re wondering why you shouldn’t keep undelete campaigns after you’ve deleted them, it’s because they can sometimes come back with a vengeance. If you try to create a new campaign while an undeleted one remains in the system, it will overwrite all the previous information in the new campaign. Even if you delete the old campaign, the information will still be there.
This means that, in some instances, you must either start from scratch or go back in time to change what you’ve done. If you have a lot of campaigns stored away, this can be a time-consuming process. Sometimes it’s easier to just start over again.
The Final Step
When you’re done creating your new campaign, click on the blue Save button again. This time, the app will ask you to enter a short description for the campaign. After you hit save, you’ll be presented with the following pop-up message:
Thanks for using AWeber! Your new campaign has been saved.
You can now go back to your Account Settings and scroll down to the General section. Here, you can review all the campaigns you’ve ever created. If you ever want to bring back a deleted campaign, simply click on the three dots next to the name of the campaign you want to restore and select Restore. Then, click on the blue Save button at the bottom of the page.
This will bring you back to the main settings page where you can enter a new description for the restored campaign.
As you can see, with AWeber, it’s easy to delete a campaign and start over again. Just remember, once you’ve deleted a campaign, it can be hard to bring it back unless you want to start over again with a new email address. In some instances, it’s easier to just start over again.
