Unfortunately, this also means that occasionally, they’ll add or remove features from their product that can potentially affect your success. Sometimes, these small changes mean big things, and for other marketers, they can be the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful campaign. 

Thankfully, AWeber doesn’t change their software much, meaning you usually don’t have to worry about your favorite tools being removed or supplanted by newer versions. But, sometimes it’s difficult to keep up with these changes when you’re constantly on the go.

How To Download Your Lists From AWeber

Luckily, AWeber makes it easy to download your lists. From the dashboard, click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to display the settings page. From there, click on the Download button to download a zip file containing your entire list.

Once you’ve downloaded the file, it’s time to unzip it and remove the encryption. Then, you’ll see a folder named “Lists.” Inside this folder, you’ll see various sub-folders and files named after the contacts in your list. These are the files you downloaded from AWEBER!

Now, when you import these contacts into your CRM system, such as HubSpot, you’ll see the full complement of email messages from AWeber. Plus, you can access all of their list-related features, such as send mass emails, follow up with automated emails, and more.

The Importance Of Organizing Your Lists

If you follow my blog or social media, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of getting things “just right.” This isn’t just a cliché because everything I share is, in some way, based on research or my own experience. It’s also because without proper organization, it’s difficult to keep track of what’s going on and which details matter most when making important decisions. For instance, it’s not always clear what constitutes a qualified lead, and without properly structuring your lists, it can be difficult to know which leads to focus on and which to ignore. This is why I always suggest structuring your lists in order of importance.

By important, I don’t mean in a monetary way (though that certainly doesn’t hurt). When it comes to marketing and email marketing specifically, I mean that you should group contacts into categories that are meaningful to your business and that will help you figure out what to do with them. This will make your life and the lives of those you manage a lot easier. It will also help you figure out what to share with them.

Create A Master List

If you’re new to email marketing, it’s a good idea to start small. One of the first things you should do is create a master list of all the contacts you have. It’s always best to have multiple lists, so that you can keep track of specific contacts and campaigns while also having a wide array of contacts in case you want to send an email to someone who isn’t on your list.

When you have a master list, you can then break down your lists into different groups and make sub-lists. For example, I have a list of contacts that are interested in buying luxury goods that I call my luxury goods list. I then have a sub-list for people interested in pursuing fashion-related content, and another sub-list for people interested in pursuing travel-related content.

Making sub-lists allows you to keep track of the various parts of your list. If you ever get lost in the shuffle and forget where you put a particular email, you can quickly find it again by checking the list of recipients. Additionally, if you ever want to follow up with just one group, you can do so by sending them an email with a special offer or a call to action.

Keep Your Lists Organized And Up-to-Date

One of the best things about AWeber is that they make it easy to keep your lists organized and up-to-date. Not only does the software allow you to download your lists as mentioned above, but you can also update them on the fly. Simply click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard, and then click on the Update Contacts button. As above, this will bring up the contact details page associated with your account. From there, you can click on the pencil icon to the right of any of the contact’s names to edit their information. Then, click on the Update Contacts button to save your changes.

This feature allows you to actively participate in the growth of your network. Rather than just having access to the information, you can choose to edit any part of it and add contacts as you go. Additionally, you can use special discounts and offers to entice people to join your network or subscribe to your email list.

Use Lists For Different Campaigns

Depending on your product or service, you might want to target a certain group of people. If you’re a brand new business, you might want to email buyers or sellers to get them to come to your website or to call you. If you’re a travel company, you might want to target frequent flyers or people who have already been on a trip with you. If you’re a real estate agent, you might want to email your clients to sign them up for your newsletter.

Whatever your product or service, you can then decide which lists to use based on what you want to achieve. This is a good thing, because you don’t always need to use the same list for every new campaign. This is simply due to the fact that everyone’s needs, wants, and habits change over time.

Download Your Lists To Your Phone

Another great thing about AWeber is that they make it easy to download your lists to your phone. Instead of having to log into your computer or mobile device just to access them, you can now do so from anywhere. This is a massive timesaver when on the go.

From your desktop or laptop, you can click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to display the settings page. From there, click on the Download button to get a.csv file download. Once downloaded, you can open the file in a spreadsheet application or on a mobile device and start building your master list.

As a free user, you can perform all of the above-mentioned functions, and you can create as many lists as you’d like. Or, if you have a list of people looking for a vacation spot, you could send them an email once a month with a comprehensive guide to the best spots for them to visit.

In addition to this, you could also use the list to keep track of things you’d like to learn more about.
