How to Make Facebook and Email Marketing Work for You

If you’re looking for ways to grow your email newsletter’s subscriber count and gain brand loyalty, look no further.

In celebration of National Novel Writing Month, I’m going to reveal the top 10 ways you can use email marketing and Facebook to gain brand loyalty and grow your business.

1. Use storytelling to engage your subscribers.

The ability to engage with your audience is the key to any successful marketing strategy. Your newsletter’s content must be cohesive and well-articulated in order to convince your subscribers that you’re a legitimate source of information and that what you’re saying is worth listening to.

However, as our attention spans decrease and the amount of content available to us increases, so does the necessity to find a way to engage our audiences with what we’re trying to convey.

Include details about the characters, settings, and plot in a way that will make your audience curious enough to want to know more. For example, did you know that only 4% of Americans read the entire novel The Da Vinci Code? Consider using hooks such as these to get readers to stay:

  • The mystery associated with the plot
  • Surprising revelations about characters
  • Exciting stories about place
  • An offer to learn more about the featured topic

2. Design your email newsletter to ensure maximum open rates.

Just because you have a wonderful product to sell or service to offer doesn’t mean that your email newsletter has to be boring. Believe it or not, there are still people out there who enjoy receiving regular emails.

If you want to maximize the number of people who open your email, you should consider implementing a few of these proven ideas:

  • Personalized content; give people the information they want without being too salesy (I don’t want to sound like every other email marketing subject)
  • Vary the content; don’t just stick to one subject line (i.e. “Hey, you.”). You can use A/B testing to see which one performs the best.
  • Offer samples of your products; people love to feel like they’re getting something for free (i.e. click here to take a look at our product).
  • Include hyperlinks within the body of your emails; people love to click on these (i.e. this link).
  • Use graphics and illustrations; people love seeing images that relate to something they’re interested in (e.g. a recipe, a clothing style, or a lifestyle).
  • Offer something free; people like receiving free stuff (e.g. new articles, tips, or offers).
  • Establish trust; people like knowing that you’re not going to spam them. Give them a reason to believe that you’re a trustworthy source (e.g. establish a reputation for delivering quality content, or pledge to never sell out).
  • Include a call to action; people love to know where to click or what to do next. Make a clear call to action in your email’s opening (e.g. “Click here to learn more,” or “Get the free guide to improving your life”).
  • Use social media to grow your audience.
  • Stand out from the crowd; people love discovering new things. If you want to become more popular on Facebook, follow these tips:
    • Post regularly – at least once a week. (The average Facebook user spends 20 minutes a day on the platform, so ensure that you’re posting during this time to get the most out of your content.)
    • Reach a wide audience; try to post helpful information that your intended audience will find valuable.
    • Include a call to action – encourage your readers to take action (e.g. “If you’re interested in improving your life, click here to learn more about the transformative power of gratitude”).
    • Build a community; get people connected to you by creating content that will help them live a better life.
    • Use keywords – make sure that your posts are relevant to specific keywords (i.e. “keywords” within the content, such as “inspiration,” “motivation,” or “gratitude”).
    • Create a look – make sure that your posts have a uniform design and font style so that they appear professional and appeal to a wide audience.
    • Post frequently – at least once a week. (Engagement is important to keep the attention of your audience.)
    • Use hashtags – find the relevant hashtags for your posts (i.e. “hashtags” within the content, such as “#inspiration,” #motivation,” or “#gratitude”).
    • Use relevant images – make sure that the images you use are relevant to the content that you’re presenting.
    • Use bold and italicized text – make sure that the text within your posts is consistent and appealing to the eye. If you want to write an entire novel, you should consider using these elements to give it a polished professional appearance.
    • Use layering – add more details (e.g. pictures, videos, or charts) to your post whenever possible to keep the attention of your audience.
    • Customize the layout – you can add your own background image, color scheme, and footer at any time within the WordPress dashboard.
