How to Add Aweber’s API to Thrive Leads

Sign Up For Aweber

The first thing you will want to do is to create a free account on awewber.com. Once you have signed up, you will be asked to verify your email address. You must do this before you can make any requests to the API.

You can make requests to the Aweber API in two different ways. The first and most popular way is to use their official Ruby gem. This is a free service that you can install directly from RubyGems.org by running the following command in your Terminal or Command Prompt:

gem install aweber

After the gem is installed, you can access the Aweber API simply by including the gem in your code. Below is a minimal example of how you can do this.

Create An Authorized Account

To make any API requests to Aweber, you will need to create an authorized account. You can do this by visiting the site http://api.awewber.com and following the prompts. Make sure you use a valid email address when creating your account.

After you create your account, you will be asked to link your social media accounts in order to confirm your email. You will need to do this in order to make any API requests.

Link Your Accounts

  • You will see a success message and an URL at the end
  • Copy this URL and paste it into your browser

Once you have linked your social media accounts and created an authorized account, you can switch over to your API dashboard and begin making requests to the Aweber API. As before, make sure you use a valid email address when creating your account.

Test The Connection

Now that you have a working account with the Aweber API, you should test the connection. Open up a new terminal or command prompt and run the following command:

curl -X POST -d '{"username":"","password":"","name":"","company":"","email":"","website":"","description":"","phone":"","country":"","currency":""}' http://api.awewber.com/v2/users

You can leave off the password for this request as it is for test purposes only. The above command will return a success message as well as a 200 OK status code. This means that your connection to the API is working properly and you can continue moving forward.

Make An API Request

Now that you have a working connection to the Aweber API, you can make requests to the API using the information you provided during the sign up process. For example, if you want to add a new subscriber to your list, then run the following command:

curl -X POST -d '{"username":"","password":"","name":"","company":"","email":"","website":"","description":"","phone":"","country":"","currency":""}' http://api.awewber.com/v2/users

If this request yields a successful response, then congratulations, you just added a new subscriber to your list. You can make similar requests using the information you provided during the sign up process to perform other functions, like change your password or add a new email address (if you have one already).

You can make requests to the Aweber API in a variety of different ways. The above example uses curl, but you can use any HTTPS client to make the requests. Make sure you use a valid email address when creating your account and make sure you test your connection before you make any requests.
