At the end of every academic year, you’re bound to receive a large number of mass emails from your university. Most of those mass emails will contain some variation of the following content:
- Congrats! You’re going to graduate in xx.
- Here’s a list of jobs that you can apply for – some of which may be funded by the university.
- Don’t forget about our graduation activities!
- Remember to follow us on social media!
If you’re not really into mass emails or you find them quite annoying, then it’s time to stop checking your university’s websites and deal with your annoyance. The good news is that almost all universities will provide a means for you to contact the person you’re looking for, even if it’s just an email address. There’s no reason to waste your time with mass emails anymore. You can find the person you need in a matter of seconds rather than minutes. If you need help, simply follow these steps:
Visit the University’s Website
As usual, the first step is the most obvious one. You need to visit the university’s website and look for the online presence of the institution. You’ll most likely find an About Us section containing a lot of useful information about the university and staff contacts. If that’s not available, you can contact the university directly through their website. Most universities will have an internal communications website containing forms for alumni to stay in touch with the institution, receive updates about lectures, courses, and more.
Contact The Alumni Association
If you’re an alumni of the university and you’ve registered with the alumni association, then you should have access to the association’s internal messaging system. If you can’t find any email addresses or contact information in the About Us section of the university website, then you can contact the alumni association through their website. Many universities will have an email address hidden somewhere in their About Us section. Alternatively, you can look for an email address in the association’s directory or use the association’s social channels to find the person you need.
Check The University Gazette
The university gazette is the official publication of the university. It’ll most likely be published twice a year and will contain the latest news about the university, degrees offered, and more. You can find the gazette online, and most likely, you’ll find the information you’re looking for there. Alternatively, you can contact the Office of Public Relations directly to find out the email addresses of people you need to contact.
Contact The HR Department
The human resources department at the university will have the information you need about the university’s employees. They will also have information about the pensions, health care, and other benefits offered by the university. As the name suggests, the human resources department will handle employee relations and payroll, among other tasks. They will have the contact details of the people you need to speak to in case you have questions about benefits or employee relations. You can contact the HR department through their website or use the Contact Us page on their website.
Use Social Media
Social media is all around us. The chances are you have a Twitter account where you post regular updates about your life. If you don’t have a Twitter account, then you can create one with a simple click of a button. It’s a brilliant tool for getting in touch with the person you need to speak to at the university. If you’ve got a LinkedIn account, then you can check the profiles of the people you need to contact. Most universities will have an alumni network on LinkedIn, and it’s an easy way to find the people you need.
Contact The Press Office
Finally, you can contact the press office at the university. Just remember that the press office is there to make the university’s press releases and other material available to the media. However, most of the time, the press office is not involved in the direct operation of the university. They will have the contact details of the people you need to speak to in case you want to make a press release or other material available to the media.
Hopefully, those steps will help you find the contact details of the person you need to speak to at the university. If you need more help, then feel free to drop us a line. We’re always here to help.
