You have a product or a service that you want to sell to as many people as possible. You’ve created a website with a store front that’s sleek and attractive, and you’ve integrated with some of the most popular WordPress plugins that make running your store simpler and more fun.
But you’re still not producing the results you want. You’re getting a decent amount of traffic, but not enough conversions to bring in the income you’re looking for. Or, maybe you’ve even tried some marketing methods and seen no positive results at all.
If this sounds like you, you’re in luck. There are solutions to help you optimize your marketing efforts for the utmost in conversions. And we’re going to share them with you.
Set Up A Test Market
It’s important to test the marketing methods that you’ll use in the future to see how they perform. Especially now, you should be running A/B tests on your site to see which methods lead to the most conversions. There are many reasons why you should be running these tests, but the main one is to find the methods that work best for your audience.
Even when you find the right methods, running A/B tests never gets old. You can set up a test market with a few clicks or a few lines of code, and then, when you’re done, you can flip the switch and the new configuration will take effect without any interruptions or glitches. This is why it’s essential to have a backup plan when you’re making changes to your website.
Use Personalized Emails
You’re probably getting a ton of emails now that you have a store. And, even if you’re getting the same generic email template from a marketing automation tool, you should still be putting a bit of a personalized spin on it. Make sure that your emails have a voice that’s tied to the recipient – not just because you want to stand out, but because it’ll make a difference.
Let’s say that you run a store about kids’ clothing and you’ve got a list of customers that you’ve collected over the years. Even if you’ve never emailed them before (or, if you’ve done so and they didn’t like it, then that’s a problem) you should still be able to find a way to personalize the emails that you send out to this audience. So, instead of just sending them a generic email about some clothing that they might like, you could actually send them an email that’s tailored to their interests.
This could be as simple as saying, “Hey, Kelly. I know that your son loves superheroes and villains, so I wanted to send his photograph in for some Halloween costumes. Or, it could be that you’ve got a daughter that’s into fashion and you wanted to find a way to keep up with the trends, so you joined our mailing list.”
The point is not that these are good examples of what you should write in an email. The point is that with a little bit of research, you’ll be able to find the interest that your audience has in the products that you sell and you can tailor your emails to speak to them.
Make Life Simpler For Yourself
Running a business is hard work. There’s a million different tasks that you have to do day in, day out, and, at times, it feels like there’s just no end to the to-do list. This is why it’s important to have systems and processes in place to help you make things simpler.
One of the simplest and most effective ways to do this is to set up automated emails. There are several platforms that you can use to do this, and many marketing automation tools that are designed for use with WordPress, so it’s a natural fit.
For example, Say that you want to send out a weekly email to your customers with the latest deals and offers. You could create a sign-up form on your website that has a few fields, including an email field. Every week, you could run an email through automated emails that would subscribe them to receive notifications like this. And because it’s automated, you won’t have to worry about missing out on a deal or offering because you didn’t have time to look at your emails. You could actually set this up to send out a personalized offer just for them.
There’s a lot that you can do with automated emails. You can send out regular reminders about events and special offers that are relevant to your business. Or, you can use them to provide customers with helpful information about your industry. The sky is the limit.
Cut Out The Busywork
It’s one thing to have a little bit of busywork in your life – like, say, keeping your inbox organized or ensuring that your emails are automatically sorted into various folders based on subject matter. It’s another thing to let your busywork consume you.
As a business owner, you’re bound to have a lot on your plate. There are so many tasks that you have to complete each day. So, sometimes, it feels like you’re running in place just to stay in place. And it’s important to find a way to disconnect from all of this so that you can refocus and get back on track.
One way to do this is to block out time in your day to focus on other things. Sometimes, you need a little boost, and, for that, you could set up some simple daily tasks that will help you get back on track.
For example, let’s say that you want to get back on track with updating your website. So, you’ve set aside an hour a day for this. In this time, you’ll do the following:
- Set up a Google Calender reminder for a weekly update.
- Organize the products that you’ve got stored in your online store.
- Answer customer questions about the store.
- Review pending orders.
- And, finally, you’ll use a tool like Flowtown to generate a to-do list of all the things that you need to get done before the end of the month.
Now, this might not be the most glamorous activity, but it’s a step in the right direction. You’re using an hour a day to focus on a single task instead of spending your whole day trying to fit in everything that you need to do. This is why you need to set aside time to work on these tasks – they won’t all get done in a single day.
So, while it might not seem like a lot, this one hour represents a significant amount of productivity. And, as you see, there’s still plenty for you to do. But, at least, this one hour frees up some of your time so that you can get back to focusing on what’s important to you.
Running a business is hard work, and it never ends. But, with a little bit of ingenuity and some of these tips, you’ll be able to make the most of your time and get the most out of your efforts. So, good luck, and may the Force be with you.
